- Jade had been more clear about her dislike of my presence, but her distaste hadn't risen to the levels of Mackenzie or Nancy. Jade wasn't a top student or star athlete, but she was the darling of both the theater and music departments. She had been in the leading roles for all of the last few plays and musicals, and she made it known that she was destined for much bigger stages in the future. Jade definitely had the talent to be the next big celebrity, and the only thing in doubt was if she would be a pop star or an actress. Or at least which one she would be first.
- Eden's renown didn't come strictly from what she did at school. Her father was the head pastor of the city's biggest megachurch. Because of this, Eden always made a big display of her piety and religious reverence. She led several bible studies which drew in fairly big numbers, and she was always the loudest to condemn sinners whenever something scandalous happened. Eden's glare at me when I had arrived might have been the most fierce, but strangely I felt like it had also been performative and lacked any real conviction. Oddly, I caught glimpses of what almost looked like excitement in her eyes when Ms Skye had explained that I was actually supposed to join the class.
- The girl who had the biggest change in attitude when the teacher explained the reason for my presence was Artemis. Artemis wasn't her real name, rather one she had taken up rather recently. Artemis was a classical rebel, constantly striving against authority for the purpose of resistance itself. She clashed with anyone who opposed her or tried to hold her back, and famously had several full scale conflicts with Mackenzie in the past. She was widely known for having no respect for any staff at the school, which made it a huge surprise when she had gone from scowling at me to smiling with friendliness after Ms Skye's explanation. For some reason Artemis seemed to be swayed quite strongly by the teacher, and I caught Artemis staring wistfully at Ms Skye. Despite her normal struggles with authority Artemis had a completely different relationship with this teacher.
